Michael Zuckert
Notre Dame University Michael Zuckert is the Nancy R. Dreux Professor of Political Science. He works in the two fields of Political Theory and Constitutional Studies, in both of which he has published extensively. He has published Natural Rights and the New Republicanism, the Natural Rights Republic, Launching Liberalism, and (with Catherine Zuckert) The Truth About Leo Strauss in addition to many articles. He has also edited (with Derek Webb) The Antifederal Writings of the Melancton Smith Circle. He has a book Leo Strauss and the Problem of Political Philosophy (with Catherine Zuckert) coming out in the spring from University of Chicago Press and is completing Natural rights and the New Constitutionalism, a study of American constitutionalism in theoretical context. http://sites.nd.edu/michael-zuckert/ |
Agnieszka Maria Nogal
University of Warsaw Agnieszka Maria Nogal is a Polish philosopher, lawyer, and political scientist. She is a laureate of the Foundation for Polish Science and she was Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence. In 1989 she begun her studies at the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Warsaw, completing her master's thesis devoted to feminism. In 1998 she defended her doctoral thesis under the supervision of Stanisław Czerniak of the Polish Academy of Sciences on the relationship between value and politics in the writings of Henryk Elzenberg. From 2001 until she completed her Law at the University of Warsaw and she obtained her habilitation on Constitutional ideas of Europe. Since 1999, she has been working at the Department of Political Philosophy of the Institute of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw. Her scientific work focus is on contemporary transformations of the public sphere, human rights. She wrote namely on debate between Jürgen Habermas and Joseph Weiler. Acílio Estanqueiro Rocha
University of Minho and Academia das Ciências Prof. Acílio Rocha is a Portuguese political philosopher and professor. He has a long teaching experience. He taught, namely, on the Major in Philosophy Social and Political Philosophy, History of Social and Political Ideas, etc. He also held Courses and Lectures in Master Courses: History of Educational Thought I; History of Educational Thought II; Gnoseology and Ontology: Special problems; Themes in History of Philosophy; History of Ethical-Political Thought ; Europe in the European Thought; Themes in the History of Political Philosophy. He supervised many masters thesis and doctoral dissertations. Dr. Rocha was the Director of the Department of Philosophy since 1986; later on he also was Coordinator of the Major in International Relations (1992-1996) and of Research in Philosophy and Culture at the Center for Humanistic Studies, Vice President (1991-1994) and President of the Institute of Humanities (1994-2000), and finally Vice-Provost of the University of Minho (2002-2009). https://aciliorocha.wixsite.com/rocha |
J. A. Colen
University of Minho José A. Colen is now doing research and writing on religious freedom, immigration ethics, and human rights philosophy. He previously published on Cold War political thought and recent analytical moral philosophy. Colen holds an MBA by IESE Business School (Barcelona) and a Ph.D. in Political Science by Institute for Political Studies (Lisboa) of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. He is currently Permanent Researcher at CEPS of Minho University. He has been a recurrent Guest Professor of the Institute for Political Studies at Portuguese Catholic University and Guest Researcher at the CESPRA of the École des Hautes études en Sciences Sociales (Paris). He was also Visiting Scholar at Notre Dame University (Indiana) in 2014 and for 2 years conducted studies at the Special Collections of the University of Chicago. He was also Visiting Scholar or Guest Researcher at the University of Vienna (Fall 2105), and Universidad de Navarra (Winter-Spring 2016), James Madison Fellow at Princeton University (2016-2017) and Visiting Researcher at the University of Navarra 2017-2018. http://www.ceps.ilch.uminho.pt/researchers/2/en |
